During our 4th Annual Writers’ Conference & Book Expo, I was scheduled to present a session on my “15 Pearls” of Literature on Marketing, Blogging, Community, and Support. As it has worked out in the past (but won’t be the case anymore), I wasn’t able to get this session up in time but did get it done eventually – just not published. Those who registered for that session will be getting 3 new sessions FREE during our upcoming WC&BE in August!
This session on my “PEARLS…” will be shared here for all our members, in hopes that it will help in our quest to become more successful and better at marketing our work as we make connections that will benefit us professionally as well as personally. These will be posted under our posting schedule of Mondays & Thursdays each week, in separate parts.

SUPPORT FROM ACROSS THE WATER
I want to share with you the awesomeness of support from across the water. In spite of all the ills of the internet and the World Wide Web, it has given us one extremely profound gift…the ability to connect with people from around the world who we would otherwise, never get to meet. I am in no way a fan of the World Wide Web, because even though it has given us that special gift, it has also created a medium for people with ugly hearts and desires to hurt, deceive, and even exude their ugliness even more broadly.
With this knowledge under your belt, I would suggest a limit on what you share via the World Wide Web and I would ask that you practice extreme caution in your interactions with those who sit behind their private, anonymous keyboards. But, even in your cautiousness, don’t ever let the power of those connections made from across the water, escape you. Oftentimes, we are lucky enough to encounter those “real” people who we get to know on deeper levels and who become our “real” friends. Having support from down under and abroad will afford you the opportunity to have your work purchased and read in foreign countries, by those who may live quite differently from you, but, who enjoy good written works just the same, no matter where it comes from.
When you have friends who support you from across the water, they are speaking you up and sharing with their little corner of the world, who you are, and what you do. Be thankful for that while cherishing and nourishing these friendships from the other side of the pond.

As an Army brat, I’m used to having friends overseas. As a child, we wrote letters to one another. The internet has now allowed us all to reconnect on FB, and it’s been a blessing.
As a writer, RRBC has gifted me with the opportunity to meet incredible people from around the world. I’ve learned about different lifestyles and circumstances that I would never have known about, even from my Army brat friends. Not only have I met and become friends with people from across the waters, but I’ve also found friends right in my backyard (state), right, Vashti? 😉

We live in such an amazing time when we can connect with others around the globe via the internet. I can easily say that I have made some true and lasting friendships such as Wendy Scott. Also, when I needed an e-book format for my poetry book, “Discovery,” the late Jan Hawke did that for me and did a beautiful job. She was a treasure! You are right about the need to cautious with all our communications. Thank you for another Pearl, Nonnie!

Hi, Nonnie, I hope you are taking care of yourself and family. I, particularly, have been holed in here for the past two weeks. I started early by heeding the warning to the elderly. As soon as I noticed that the Eucharistic ministers in my church were not using the Purex anymore to clean their hands, I stopped taking the Holy Communion. Then, I stopped attending the Daily Mass even before the Bishops’ exemptions. Now we are home and praying.
Yes, I have made many friends from across the waters especially through RRBC. As a traveler, I have friends in all the places I have visited, but I have not traveled the world yet. RRBC has taken me far and beyond. Thanks to you!
