Pearls of #Literature on #Marketing, #Blogging, #Community & #Support, Pt. 8 #RRBC #RWISA

During our 4th Annual Writers’ Conference & Book Expo, I was scheduled to present a session on my “15 Pearls” of Literature on Marketing, Blogging, Community, and Support.  As it has worked out in the past, I wasn’t able to get this session up in time but did get it done eventually.

This session on my “PEARLS…” will be shared here for all our members, in hopes that it will help in our quest to become more successful and better at marketing our work as we make connections that will benefit us professionally as well as personally.  These will be posted in separate parts.

Welcome to Part 8!

…AND THE TANTRUMS WILL FOLLOW

I live in constant support of others, so when I founded RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB it was just another way for me to support and help to propel the many wonderful authors out there, who are so deserving of the little support I can offer, and so much more. In an extremely short period of time, our virtual book club grew by leaps and bounds, with an impressive roster of talented writers. We boast of a board of very exceptional and extremely talented writers who give of themselves daily to be in service to our members. They do it without pay, they do it without reservation, and there are those times, they do it in the midst of many complaints, trials, and shows of un-appreciation. BUT, they continue to serve.

We live in a world where poor behavior is seemingly acceptable.  I’ve heard others blame this on social media but although there is a ton I could attribute to the new culture of social media, this is where I will give it a break.

Poor behavior is not something you just wake up one day and find that you have.  If it’s in you now, it’s been inside of you for a while.

Our focal point at RRBC is mainly that of support. We ask and strongly encourage each of our members to jump right in and support their fellow club members by purchasing, reading and reviewing their books. We also ask that they #Follow each member on social media so that they will be able to show their support of each other via that avenue. A vast majority of our members are the kinds of members who are also all about support and we greatly appreciate them.

But, as with any organization, there are those who do absolutely NOTHING but expect that they are served, served and served some more, without ever giving any of themselves to help others. We can’t please those people so we’re not even going to try.

When these “kinds” join us, they join us for one reason and one reason only – TO SEE WHAT WE CAN DO FOR THEM. That’s their only agenda. They have no desire to give to others, only to take. And when they find that they are not being “given” in the manner they feel they should be, that’s when the tantrums begin.

They take to social media to try and bad-mouth what we do here, and they try to defame and degrade our intentions. But you know what, I have said this before will continue to say it: When you live your life in such a way that everything you do is above reproach, no comments, nor any displays of ugliness, will ever be able to touch you.

The Board Members here at RRBC are held in high esteem, and I, being the President, make no apologies for the way that I run my ship … that ship that has proven time and time again, that we walk our talk each and every day. The proof is in our pudding. We set out to PROFILE, PROMOTE & PROPEL the careers of Indie Authors and we are doing just that! Our member-authors are seeing increases in their book sales like some have never seen before! Our member-authors are gaining book reviews in record numbers like never before! And, their name recognition, well, I receive email and Twitter DMs on a regular basis stating how “No one knew my name before RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB,” so I’ll repeat, we are doing just what we set out to do.

Ignore those that are not happy with themselves, therefore, seek to make everyone else just as miserable as they are.  Don’t let the venomous words of those who love to complain and destroy, keep you from always being at your very best.  Remember to never, ever stoop to someone else’s level … always make them rise to yours. ~Nonnie Jules

  1. Hi Nonnie.

You have always been focused on one goal, that is to help other Indie Authors. Everything that you do is towards that end and you never deviate from it. That’s an admirable trait … one that is lacking in a lot of us. That’s because its not an easy thing to do … day in and day out.

    God Bless You.

    1. Shirley, thank you so much. You always know just what to say to keep me lifted. It isn’t an easy task trying to get others to support others the way we do it here, but, everything I do in my life, I know that God has specifically chosen me for that job, and I don’t take those tasks lightly. But, when members like you show that the work here is not going unnoticed, it propels me more and I appreciate it greatly. Let’s keep on keeping on! RRBC is amazing, isn’t it?

  2. I’ve just tweeted this with a shoutout to RRBC. And I definitely agree with Nonnie’s rule of reciprocity. When I read I book, I usually post an honest review because I know reviews are the best gift I can give to an author.

  3. Hi, Nonnie. The premise you founded RRBC on is one that has stood the test of time. It’s the book club that can take a licking and keep on ticking because of the honesty and above reproach way that you lead. Thank you! I don’t even remember how it happened, but thank goodness someone pointed me to RRBC!

  4. Hi, Nonnie, our people say that you don’t learn to use your left hand when you are fully grown, meaning that, you can’t change the bad habit of a fully grown person. I can’t see anyone else doing what you do for our club. We appreciate you.
