Miriam Hurdle

In her own words:  Hi, I’m Miriam Hurdle. I grew up in Hong Kong where I finished college and worked for several years before coming to the U.S. While in Hong Kong, I taught Chinese as a Second Language at the Hong Kong Baptist University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. I was also the Director of the Children’s Department for Asian Outreach where I published four Children’s books. In the 1970s, I came to the U.S. for my graduate studies and received three master’s degrees in Education, Counseling, and School Administration, as well as earned a Doctor of Education from La Verne University in California.

After working for two years as a rehabilitation counselor, fifteen years as a teacher and ten years as a school district administrator, I retired and am enjoying life with my husband in southern California. In my retired life, I find pleasure in reading, writing, blogging, singing, watercolor painting, gardening, photographing, and traveling. I’m married to Lynton Hurdle, have one married daughter and two granddaughters.

I write poetry, memoir, travel journal, short stories, and children’s literature. My debut poetry Songs of Heartstrings: Poems of Gratitude and Beatitude was published in October 2018. I used my photography and watercolor paintings to illustrate the poems.

  1. Hi Miriam,
I worked in HK for many years, both as a professor in fashion at the HKPoly/U and also as a designer in the private sector. I love your hometown/city. Enjoy your lovely Author’s Page and Best wishes!

    1. Thank you, Nonnie. I re-send the Facebook link, the same as what I sent previously. I had no idea of why it was broken. I post a question on Trello for you and appreciate your suggestion.
