Hello Everyone,
I am posting my 4-star review of Sahara Heat by Maura Beth Brennan. I am waiting for approval from Amazon Germany. As soon as I receive it, I will post the link.
Shalom shalom
Whenever a stripper and braggart come together in marriage, you can expect the unexpected. That is what I met when I started reading this story. Rejection plays an essential role in the main female character’s childhood, whose name is Alice. The non-acceptance killed her innocence, and she changed her name from Alice to Sahara.
Well-written, the story deals with two old-time friends meeting up again. One of them married to Sahara, and one recently divorced. The plot is engaging and will keep you turning the pages, especially if you’re looking for excitement, infidelity, and murder. You get it all in this story and will want to read it.
However, I am a person that likes to see justice done and the good guys winning out in the end. This story offered an ending my soul wasn’t willing to accept, but I highly recommend reading it.

Happy Sunday, all! Here’s my 5-star review of LATE BLOOMER by Pat Garcia:
I thoroughly enjoyed reading LATE BLOOMER by Pat Garcia, it kept my interest from the very beginning.
This story is about Nadine Dorothy Lauren, aka NaDoo, who is a 47-year-old virgin – a woman who never in all that time experienced love. She had dreamt about marriage and wished for a house full of children, but neither occurred to date. She relocated to Europe after her best friends convinced her that the odds of meeting a soul mate there were in her favor.
NaDoo was a professional child psychologist and her job kept her busy, her social life was limited to bi-monthly bridge games with her friends and occasional family get-togethers with them. She became so distraught that she considered a surgical procedure that would prevent her from ever giving birth. Her mind was changed after meeting her new neighbor, Daniel Incogniti, and his seven boys.
She began to spend her free time with Daniel and his family and soon experienced her first-ever sensuous kiss. From that point on, her dreams were filled with thoughts about Daniel and how her body reacted to his touch. Is he the one?
Does her wish finally come true, or will nine be just too much? A great story and highly recommended. Pick up the book to find out how it all turns out.

Thank you for the wonderful review, Shirley. I’m glad you were able to learn from my story, especially, seeing how your brother, Ronald, might have experienced similar days and nights during his tour. So sorry he didn’t survive the war…I would have loved for him to critique my work.

Hi, Y’all! I gave “Two Doors” by Karl Morgan four stars because I really liked it. Here’s my review:
Fascinating story of the power of choice: “Two Doors,” by Karl Morgan, is surprisingly full of action and intrigue. A family squabble of cosmic proportions holds the fate of humanity at stake, and it’s all centered around an unassuming young man on a quest to start his career in New York City. Two powerful families are interested in Pete Smith’s ability to foresee the future, a skill he suspected he had, but dismissed as merely bad dreams that had a habit of coming true.
The conflict escalates throughout the story as Pete is faced with an impossible choice. The families represent two doors and a decision he must make. One door leads to chaos and the world’s end, but which one?
The author spins an entertaining, semi-allegorical tale concerning the supernatural forces of good versus evil. I enjoyed Pete’s journey and the characters he gets to know. The ending took me by surprise, leaving me eager to read the next book in the series. Well-written!

Hi, Y’all! My review of Maura Beth Brennan’s “I’ll Be Right Back” is up on Amazon. I gave it five stars.
An engaging love story with a twist: In “I’ll Be Right Back,” Warren, a man in love with his much younger wife Iris, waits for her return from a quick trip outside to walk their little dog Petal in a snowstorm. When Iris disappears, leaving the dog safely in the garage, Warren is determined to find her. His mother, convinced she’d left him, taunts him for marrying someone beneath them who’s only out for his money.
During Warren’s search for Iris, he finds himself in a totally unexpected way.
Author Maura Beth Brennan’s characters are well developed despite the confines of a short story. It moves at a good clip. Petal, the small dog, adds color and life, enhancing the unexpected ending.
I’d recommend this story to anyone who wants a quick, satisfying read.

Hello all! Today, I reviewed IF ONLY THERE WAS MUSIC…the poetry of forbidden love by Nonnie Jules and Giani Jordon. Here’s my 5-star review:
First, let me say that poetry is not a genre that I normally read. Far from it, in fact. However, IF ONLY THERE WAS MUSIC…THE POETRY OF FORBIDDEN LOVE by Nonnie Jules and Giani Jordon is a book that I’ve heard a lot about from members of my book club. So, I thought I’d give it a try.
In this collaboration, two online companions have fallen in love with one another. However, they are both married to someone else. One lives in Italy and the other in New York City. Long-distance love is difficult in itself, but to already be married and falling in love with somebody new and can never touch and hold is not only taboo but seems highly improbable.
The book is divided into three sections, her POV, his, and theirs. The poems tell a story overflowing with emotions from both sides. I did enjoy “her” poems better as they seemed to have more depth and were more detailed. Many of her lines were stirring and did affect me in one way or another.
I know that those interested in this genre can differentiate between the many styles of poetry used in this book. To me, they were all the same. However, I enjoyed the voyage and recommend this book to all who enjoy a great emotional tale of forbidden love.

My review of The One Awakened (Chronicles of the Diasodz Book 5) by Yvette M Calleiro
The finale of the Chronicles of the Diasodz had me on the edge of my seat. Every page kept me entranced in Yvette’s amazing world, and I had to force myself to put it down so I could get some sleep. Not many books have affected me the way this one did. I sat with the family, waiting to know the outcome of one of the characters (no spoilers), absolutely worried that the outcome wouldn’t be what I hoped for.
I’d give The One Awakened a Million Stars, but Amazon only allows 5.

Hi, Everyone! Here’s my 4 star review of Joy M. Lilley’s Spy and Villain!
Intriguing Short Read: In “Spy and Villain” by Joy M. Lilley, Mavis, confined to a wheelchair for the last twenty years or so, finds solace by watching the neighborhood through lace curtains covering her living room windows. She suspects the man across the street is abusing his wife. Mavis’s husband tries to dissuade her determination to step in and befriend the woman, which raises questions about him. Could he be involved?
I enjoyed the distinctive British flavor of Mavis’s dialogue, both internal and with others. The character is well developed, and I especially liked the unexpected twist at the end. This story is a treat for those stolen moments in a reader’s busy life. A cup of tea would go well with Spy and Villain.

I applaud Maura Beth Brennan for writing this short story. The details of Warren’s wife disappearing in the night gave me concern as I wondered what could’ve happened to her. Then as the story unfolds, everything is revealed with an ending I didn’t expect.

The One Revealed (Chronicles of the Diasodz Book 4) by Yvette M. Calleiro
The story picks up where books two and three left off, and so much happened in this installment of the Chronicles of the Diasodz that I was hard-pressed to put down because I wanted to know what would happen to our heroes next. The turmoil was heavy, and I became more attached to the characters than I already was because of it.
I gave The One Revealed 5 out of 5 Stars.

The recent Book of the Month, “The Reluctant Prophet” By Karl Morgan is a science fiction novel about premonitions, political intrigue and time travel. The overall storyline is good. There is never a dull moment. The characters are varied, though I would have preferred a bit more development. There was less detail than I like, regarding the surroundings and locations throughout the novel, but that may not be an issue for others. It is an easy to read story that progresses quickly. The loose ends are neatly tied at the end. If you like time travel, and an easy to read writing style, you’ll probably like this one.
As a bonus, the author has included the first four chapters of his new book, “Two Doors.”
I also read and reviewed Karl Morgan’s book, “The Old House.” What would you do to inherit a fortune? In this novel, the answer is to live in an old house for two years and so Simon moved in. The twists in this paranormal love story will keep the reader turning pages. The characters are well done, as reincarnation brings them back through multiple generations. I particularly enjoyed the dialogue between the characters, who are the same person. Imagine having such a conversation! The author does a good job of hide and seek with the secrets and mystery of “The Old House.” I thoroughly enjoyed the story.

Hi, Everyone! Here’s my five-star review of “And the Music Played” by Nonnie Jules.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R7GLJ65Q3CIJ3
A Thriller of a Love Story. After reading the first book in this series, I couldn’t wait to read the rest of Gianni and Christine’s story in “And the Music Played” by Nonnie Jules. It opens when Christine, caught in an abusive marriage, and Gianni, entangled in one with a selfish, cheating wife, finally meet in person and discover their love is stronger than they realized. Gianni returns home to divorce his wife when he uncovers her plot to end his life and make off with his sizeable wealth.
This intriguing short story encompasses a fast paced, romantic thriller, complete with plot twists and remarkable character development. It’s a great read, especially for someone short on time but with a big appetite for good stories.

Hey Everyone
Just posted five star review of PTL Patty Perrin’s work . “Reflections of a Misfit “ to Amazon.
I’ll post link when I get the approval.
Here’s text submitted:
“Inspirational Prose”
This is spiritual food one can easily digest. Explanations are from a personal point of view set up in convenient sections. I found the refreshing spoonfuls of wisdom easy to absorb daily. Any “doubting Thomas “ will enjoy answers to questions, we all need answered.
The author does a wonderful job getting the lofty meanings down to every day language. I enjoyed being drawn to thirst for more wisdom after putting the book away. I also found subjects normally inflammatory in the modern world; given the sweet spirit of understanding.
I highly recommend this work to anyone beginning, or advanced; having spirituality curiosity.

JOYCE WINIFRED HARRIS-BURKES: HOW I REMEMBER MY MAMA BY SHIRLEY HARRIS-SLAUGHTER
To say that an orphan can rise like a Phoenix out of the ashes still astounds people. We rarely believe that a person, and even more so a woman, can overcome the horror of life that prevents many from taking their plight and turning it into something that changes themselves and also changes others. But Joyce Winifred Harris-Burkes did just that. She never stopped developing and therefore left behind an astonishing legacy.
Over her lifetime, she touched the transformational core within herself that brought out her authenticity. She was brave enough to step out and walk the path that led her to the light of life.
Therefore, if you are looking for an excellent read about overcoming, this is a book you should read.
If you’re wondering whether you should give up and swallow in self-pity because everything seems to be going wrong, read this book and be encouraged.
If you’re looking for a mentor, someone to model you so that you can be the best you can be, this is undoubtedly the book you want to read.
Filled with essays, poetry, and fiction, JOYCE WINIFRED HARRIS-BURKES: HOW I REMEMBER MY MAMA expresses how she saw the world, and it will capture your heart.
An outstanding read, and I recommend it to anyone.

https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/customer-reviews/R30RUOE1LL2DWJ/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B0BC2GCFGG
SKULL’S VENGEANCE is the fourth book in the series CURSE OF CLANSMEN AND KINGS
It is Historical Fiction combined with fantasy and paranormal elements and presented with a great plot.
The title mirrors what happens in the story. Written in a time when the Roman Empire dominated the world, we get a good look at a smaller nation, the Celtics, who are determined to break Rome’s rule.
Thus, Skull’s Vengeance depicts the continuing conflict between the Romans and the Celtics, the hatred and enslavement of people, and the love of a Celtic woman for a Roman soldier who was the father of her dead baby daughter. Will they reunite again? That you must read.
The romance came too short for me, but I understand why. Wars and vengeance demand their tribute.
Filled with dark magic, “the Other World,” the ancient druids, and shape-shifters, each paragraph builds upon the other, and I kept turning the pages, desiring to know what would happen next.
The intertwined plot raises the tension throughout the story as the mixture of fantasy, brutality, visions, dreams, undying love, and intrigue transforms and changes the characters. I
By the time the story ended, I wanted more, so I look forward to reading book five of this series.

Hello all! I recently completed a 4-star review of FOR ETERNITY by Karen Black. Here it is:
FOR ETERNITY by Karen Black has a cast of weird characters: Monique, a 700-year-old depressed witch, Dante, a talking black raven, a cat, and werewolves move the story along. The love of Monique’s life, Lucius, a werewolf, left her over fifty years ago without an explanation. He simply vanished. Her only companion since has been Dante.
Monique receives an invitation to a special birthday party to be held in her honor with the promise of a special surprise. She didn’t want to go but relented. She wasn’t sorry!
A great fifteen-minute read while commuting or on a work break. Kudos to the author.

Here’s my five-star review for Linnea Tanner’s SKULL’S REVENGE. I just posted it on Amazon, and it hasn’t appeared yet.
This is the fourth book in a series about Catrin and Marcellus, star-crossed lovers whose backgrounds as royalty forbade them from coming together. I have read all four in the series, and, once again, had trouble putting this book down. This author’s ability to bring characters alive is extraordinary. Her research into the world of Celts and Romans is superb.
Catrin is fighting her half-brother, Marrock, to become queen of her country. She has married Marcellus, who’s a Roman patrician. Marcellus’s father has betrothed him to a young girl, whom he wants Marcellus to marry for political reasons. Marcellus’s brother, Brutius, hates Marcellus and begins scheming against him. Meanwhile, Marrock has sent an assassin to kill Catrin. The intrigue builds and builds, as Catrin attempts to gather an army to fight against Marcellus. Her efforts are complicated by the fact that she becomes pregnant by Marcellus.
I won’t give readers any more details; however, the way the author establishes intrigue and weaves magic and backdoor deals to complicate what might have been a relatively easy situation is masterful. She portrays the cruelty and horrible way slaves were treated at the time, and, through her characters, demonstrates either humanity toward slaves or utter disrespect for them. A reader will be able to determine how a character acts based on how he or she treats slaves.
I recommend this book highly; however, I think that it makes sense for anyone who wishes to read this to begin with the first book and read all four. I am anxious to read the next book. Prior to this series, I would never had thought to read this genre. Because of this author’s skill, her characters, and the way everything is presented, my mind has been opened to another genre. I am grateful for that.

Hi Wanda–I’m deeply honored by your in-depth review of Skull’s Vengeance and how you’ve captured its essence. I added slave trafficking as a subplot to emphasize the cruelty of the Roman institution, which has unfortunately been repeated throughout history, including in the USA. I’m glad that you’ve found a new genre to read. It’s been fun reading the wide range of genres written by talented authors at RRBC.

I just posted a four-star review of Greg Doering’s “Honor and Indignity” on Amazon:
“Honor and Indignity” is a first-person account of the nightmare that was Vietnam for so many young men who were sent there in the 1960s and ’70s. At age 19, author Greg Doering thought he would be part of the motor pool, fixing Jeeps and other automobiles in Vietnam (in country); however, because there weren’t enough enough men to go out into the jungle, he was made part of the infantry, sent out on patrol and into combat, and this book describes the details. Those of us who were stateside suspected that the things the author endured were happening, but this book confirms what we thought. (Disclaimer: My husband spent eight months and twenty-two days in Vietnam as a medic.)
The author describes the heat, sweat, damp feet, and types of “critters” members of the Marines and Army encountered during their tours of duty. The Marines spent thirteen months in county, while other branches of the service were assigned for twelve months. The author also describes the heartache of losing his comrades and seeing his peers wounded in horrible ways throughout his Vietnam tour. He discusses the easy availability of drugs and alcohol and how those substances helped–but didn’t take away–the pain of being in this foreign land.
But Vietnam wasn’t the worst of it. When he returned to the United States, he faced even more challenges than the jungle could offer, between incompetent Veterans’ Administrations Hospital staff, hostile Americans, and other obstacles.
This is an important book to reveal the history of the turbulent days of the Vietnam War, both before and after the conflict ended. Some may find it difficult to read these pages; I found Doering’s ability to be truthful in telling his story to be refreshing, albeit not always pleasant, to read. Back when the war was going on, some people were saying, “My country, right or wrong,” in order to stop “the ‘domino’ theory’ in southeastern Asia. Others were screaming, “Hell, no, we won’t go!” and burning their draft cards. The country was divided over the war. All anyone needs is to read “Honor and Indignity” to understand why.

I just completed a review of UNTITLED: THE QUOTES DIARY – Life in quotes by Nonnie Jules on Amazon.
Here is the review: Are you one that gets picked on at school, work, or social events? Are you withdrawn, a wallflower, that wants to fight back but doesn’t know how? Do you want to live a better life moving forward? Then you need to read this book. There are over two-hundred quotes spread across forty-nine categories or situations in life. Learn from these quotes and apply them yourselves. Many are written with a feminist attitude, but I found them all to be applicable to both genders and all ages. You may not agree with all of them, and that’s understandable, but applying any of them to your life will only improve it.
Don’t miss out on this collection of wisdom, you’ll come back to it time and time again. Highly recommended.

Hello all! Today, I reviewed CARL PRESCOTT AND THE DEMON QUEEN by Karl Morgan. Here is my 4-star review as it appeared on Amazon:
Carl Prescott is fifteen years old and a superhero! He developed special powers and defeated the beast in the previous book which saved the world. Today, he’s on a first-name basis with God, Death, and the Devil. The Devil’s daughter, Sylvia, once ruled demonic Romania from a castle that is currently buried under the Academy where Carl and his friends attend. She is intent on relocating it to its former location, which if successful, will destroy the Academy. Carl sets out to stop her.
The Demon Queen, Sylvia, is infatuated with Carl and he doesn’t understand why. She is also intent on killing him and destroying the universe. If successful, a new universe will be born and Sylvia will be the new God and Ruler. Carl and his friends join up to thwart her plans, and some lose their souls to the Queen in the process. Meanwhile, Carl seeks the answers needed to save the universe and solicits help from the three ultimate beings to do so. There are many twists and turns along the way which keeps the readers guessing what happens next. Can Carl save and retrieve the lost souls?
Like his earlier book, the author changes scenes abruptly within every chapter and sometimes the story is difficult to follow. I also found several instances where words are missing within the story which caused me some pause. I would recommend that readers interested in this book read the preceding book first for the backstory. Otherwise, they may find CARL PRESCOTT AND THE DEMON QUEEN difficult to understand.

Hi, everyone! Here is my review for Janie B by Pat Garcia:
This micro-read was another fabulous story by Pat Garcia! It amazes me how she can put so much into such a short read, but she did. The story starts with Janie reminiscing on being kidnapped. The author gives us just the right amount of details to make us feel her despair. And then, her savior, Paolo, comes and rescues her. The story focuses on her road to healing.
The author did a wonderful job in describing this healing journey and Janie’s hesitancy to take that final step to heal. The author’s characters are always so rich, and Janie and Paolo definitely fit that description. I would have loved to have a bit more to the story because I loved the characters so much, but then it wouldn’t have been a micro-read.
If you don’t have a lot of time to read, but you want to immerse yourself in a great story, I would recommend this one! 🙂

JANIE B, by Pat Garcia weaves a tale of terror, redemption,
encouragement and adoration. A story that will take the reader a long time to forget, Janie B is a graphic portrait of the power of unconditional love. I would have liked a bit more character development, though I realize that is limited in a micro read. Overall, well done!

I’m catching up on my reviews and posted a four-star review for The Audition by Wanda Fischer. I thoroughly enjoyed this story about the experience of a talented young girl and her ambitions. In pursuing those ambitions, she wins a prize, but not the one she intended. It’s an expertly told and heartwarming story that is well worth a read!

Hi, everyone. Just posted my four-star review of Janie B on Amazon, but doubt it is “up” yet. This was a grown-up romance by Pat Garcia, about a woman with past horrific trauma and many issues who finds happiness. Worth a read!

I have just reviewed Pat Garcia’s book ‘Contemplations of a woman turning sixty Five.’
I gave a five star rating.
A most enjoyable read. A lady who is turning sixty five, contemplates her own demise after many of her contemporaries have left this world.
She has been a long time friend of a neighbour who is single as she is; and has adopted children from across the globe.
She often visits and gets along well with them all.
This short story talks of the fears almost all women likely consider at some time in their lives. And her troubled existence is well portrayed by excellent prose.
A happy short story eventually.

A delightful micro read.
Paranormal fiction is not usually my cup of tea. However I really enjoyed this micro read by Karen Black.
The bird and animal concept is delightful along with the romance.
Most enjoyable very short story.

Good evening, all! I just completed my 4-star review of EMPTY SEATS by Wanda Fischer. Here it is:
I thoroughly enjoyed reading EMPTY SEATS by Wanda Fischer. The book is about three hometown high-school baseball heroes from different states, Jimmy, Bobby, and Bud, who find that life will not be as easy as they thought after being drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 1970s. They are pitchers who joined others playing for a Single-A ball club in Jamestown, New York. They were all starters back home, but here, they found others better qualified and joined others with the same aspirations as them. The road to the big leagues was going to be way more difficult than they imagined.
The story continued through their first season and then followed them individually through the off-season. The characters are well-developed and likable. Each goes his own way and encounters life-altering events. Their decisions will pave the way for their future.
I thought the story was compelling and entertaining, pulling me in from the very first page. There are twists and turns within this story of male bonding and friendship.
I thought the story was well-written but would have liked to see Jimmy’s story continue to see where his path finally led him. I’d highly recommend EMPTY SEATS for readers 12 and up.

Greetings, all! My review of Susanne Leist’s DEAD GAME has finally been published on Amazon. It doesn’t take long to get involved in this engrossing fantasy. I don’t usually recommend prologues, but will make an exception. Read the prologue! In Leist’s delightfully chilling novel, all vampires are not created equal and all of them aren’t as wicked as most folklore has led us to believe. The author weaves a page turning story that will satisfy current fans of vampire tales and will undoubtedly create new vampire enthusiasts, with emphasis on the memorable characters in the Dead Game. I’m looking forward to Book Two. https://www.amazon.com/review/R2BNJVX0R05IYA/ref=pe_1098610_137716200_cm_rv_eml_rv0_rv

My review for REFLECTIONS, by John Fioravanti has been published on Amazon. The author compiled an impressive collection of quotes, some notable and others obscure. With each, he delves into the meaning and its affect on, not only his life, but society in general. Fioravanti’s reflections are thought provoking and inspirational. The beautifully written contemplations in this collection should be read again and again. https://www.amazon.com/review/RAJ6RBX2EZYJ5/ref=pe_1098610_137716200_cm_rv_eml_rv0_rv

Hi, Everyone! I just posted a 5-star review of Pat Garcia’s CONTEMPLATIONS OF A WOMAN TURNING SIXTY FIVE. Here’s the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1356BVN28F823/
And here’s the review:
In “Contemplations of a Woman Turning Sixty-Five” by Pat Garcia, when 64-year-old Tessie returns from the funeral of her friend, she contemplates what’s in store for her as she approaches 65. Never married and childless, she wonders if she should be preparing to follow her friend to the great beyond. She dismisses a recent dream of a big house and kids as a fantasy. Everything changes when she’s given an option she never dreamed would be offered to her. Author Pat Garcia has crafted a beautiful short story around a remarkable character many readers will identify with. Sometimes, we only have a brief pause in our busy days. This story is perfect for that moment.

Hi, Everyone!
I posted my 5-star review of Karen Black’s For Eternity on Amazon today, 1/2/23. Here’s the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R33OB7363CG9SZ/
Here’s the review:
What a treat of a story! Despite its brief length, it flows in rich imagery and captivates the emotions as Monique still grieves the loss of her beloved Lucius, gone 50 years. Out of respect for the raven, her steadfast companion, she follows his advice and accepts an invitation for her 700th birthday. The author has crafted a well-structured story interwoven with magic, evil, justice, and an ending as satisfying as a decadent chocolate melting on the tongue. I highly recommend it for any busy reader craving a great short read.

Hi Everyone–I’ve posted my 4-star review of Wanda Fischer’s “The Audition” on Amazon today, Dec 31, at the following link: https://www.amazon.com/review/R21BVEW4MH2GNS/
The complete review is provided below:
“The Audition” by Wanda Adams Fischer is a short story that takes place in the 1960s when “The Ted Mack Original Amateur Hour” was a predecessor for “America’s Got Talent.” Like all bright-eyed participants, Jean Sullivan’s dream is to be showcased in her rendition of singing “Oklahoma.” Unlike many participants, she has no formal training and begins to doubt herself. How can she stand out from so many talented competitors?
Author Fisher has written a poignant short story about a young girl who dares to reach for her dream. And in doing so, she learns about the gift of friendship and support from her family, friends, and strangers. Jean is a relatable, determined character who must overcome doubts about herself and muster the courage to audition. That courage, in itself, makes her a winner.
You are pulled immediately into the story with dialogue, which carries the story to a heartfelt ending. A quote from the classic movie It’s a Wonderful Life sums up the story: “Remember, no man is a failure who has friends. Thanks for the wings.”
“The Audition” is recommended for readers who enjoy reading inspiring short stories about a young girl reaching for the stars and finding unexpected friendship and support from those around her.

Hi Everyone–I’m finishing my year-end book reviews for 2022. I posted a 4-star review for Karen Black’s “For Eternity” on Amazon today, Dec 31, at the following link: https://www.amazon.com/review/R3LCTMS12JKDI3/
Below is the complete review:
“For Eternity” by Karen Black is a wicked, fun micro read with paranormal and romantic elements. The story begins when a raven delivers a message to Monique, a witch. She has been invited to her birthday celebration, where a special gift awaits her at Nightingale’s Hideout. Should she go? That is where she met Lucius— her true love, a werewolf who had abandoned her. But that is also where she had to face her worst terror.
Author Karen Black has written an enchanting micro read filled with paranormal suspense and black humor, as evidenced by Monique’s thoughts: “I wonder if the hotel has a policy against killing other guests.” Her descriptions of Lucius when they first meet are wickedly delicious: “As always, his dark eyes were wary. His fangs glistened in the candlelight.” It has eerie creatures — a raven, a telepathic cat, and goblins — you would expect in a fantastical world. It highlights a werewolf that makes you tingle as his hands dig into his lover’s shoulders and inches along her body.
“For Eternity” is a fun-filled micro read full of black humor and paranormal twists for readers who enjoy fantasy with a tinge of romance to make their hearts throb harder.

Here’s my second review of the night – The Audition by Wanda Adams Fischer:
THE AUDITION by Wanda Adams Fischer is a short story about a seventh-grade girl who wants to try out for the Ted Mack Amateur Hour show in the early fifties. On the night before and the day of the tryouts, Jean Sullivan can’t sleep and was unable to concentrate in her classes, daydreaming for most of the day.
When she arrived at the studio, her dad wasn’t allowed inside and she had to enter alone. Once inside, she learned that other contestants had taken singing lessons, most wore flashy clothes and make-up, could read music, and carried sheet music. Jean and her family knew she could sing, but it was clear that she was out of her league, lost hope, and thought about leaving.
A young magician appeared, waved his wand over her head and recited some magic words. A change occurred and Jean had renewed confidence and hope. She doesn’t give up, but her life will no longer be the same.
Highly recommended for all ages.

Hello all! Here is my first of two reviews tonight. This first one is for Memories of my Mama by Shirley Harris-Slaughter. I gave it 5 -stars. Here it is in its entirety:
JOYCE WINIFRED HARRIS-BURKES: HOW I REMEMBER MY MAMA by Shirley Harris Slaughter is a tribute to the author’s mother. Shirley’s mother was an orphan from the age of four who managed to make something of herself. During WWII, she worked at a naval base in Alameda, CA, and was a member of the famed “Rosie the Riveter” crew. She later met and married her husband, furthered her education, and together they raised eight children. Mama was a great storyteller, poet, writer, and gifted speaker. She was also a rabble-rouser and activist, joining groups to right the wrongs.
In this book, the author shares many of her memories of mama, in addition to some of the short stories, and poems written by her mother. She also entertained her children and grandchildren by telling tales, singing, dancing, and performing skits that she made up This woman lived for her family and raised them to love God and follow His teachings.
This author shares many of the same traits as her mother bringing to mind a couple of sayings: The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, like mother – like daughter. She, too, is a past activist, published author of several books, and dabbles in poetry.
This tribute is a wonderful read; one from the heart. In fact, many readers might see their own mother in some of the memories shared by this author. Well worth a read! Thank you, Shirley!

I just completed my Amazon 4-star review of JANIE B by Pat Garcia. Here it is…
Janie B by Pat Garcia is a short story about love, patience, and freedom. This woman was kidnapped, tortured, and on the verge of death when Paolo Dio Salva rescued her. Alive, her future was destined to be filled with shame, low self-esteem, and flashbacks. Life as a fearful recluse. However, Paolo not only rescued her from the masochist but during the next year, he was also a big influence in helping her overcome her fears of the trauma. What happened? Worth a read.
