It’s time to enter your #book(s) into the ’23 #RRBC KCT Int’l Literary “TREAT” Award Contest! @RRBC_Org @Tweets4RWISA @RRBC_RWISA @nonniejules

Welcome to the

6th Annual KCT INTERNATIONAL LITERARY AWARD” Contest!!!

This award carries the namesake of our dearly departed Kathryn C. Treat, who loved great literature.  Her book was an excellent read and she expected the same excellence from the work of others.  In our eyes, this award is the highest honor your book can receive in the literary field, as unlike many of the other literary awards around, it will be judged by the highest of standards.  We hope that you will enter your work so that your book can have the bragging rights of being a “TREAT” Award Winner!  When someone sees that award title next to your book (whether as a Grand Prize Gold Winner or even a Silver Award Runner Up or Blue Award Finalist), they will know without a shadow of any doubt, that it is a really good or a great read, and one worthy of their time and money!

What the judges are looking for:

-Written works that have been properly edited and proofed

-Great story-lines (we don’t want to fall asleep by page 5)

-Well-developed characters

-Believability

-Story-lines that flow easily

-All-in-all, we are searching for reads that, after having read Chapter one, compels us to continue reading to the very end. We don’t want to have to stop to jump over typos and misspelled words.  Nonnie writes in Nonnie-tongue, and I often share that “I write the way that I speak, and I speak very well,” so we are not opposed to you using your own language, but it MUST make sense!   We’re also not freaky about the rules of who follows who or what in the varying parts of speech (i.e. nouns, pronouns, adjectives, conjunctions, prepositions, etc).  I mean, c’mon, seriously? This is 2023.  Use your creativity and write outside the box, if that’s what it takes to make it all come together in the end as a great story.

I was an English nut in school, but, when I became an adult and was no longer being forced to think (and write) like everyone else, my creativity began to overflow.  I became innovative in my writing, an independent thinker, and decided I’d speak the way I wanted to, as long as it made sense and I could carry on an intelligent conversation.  But, again, it all had to make sense!  You see, when our readers are reading our books, they don’t care about these things (unless they’re English nuts, too, which I still consider myself to be, but, I also love creativity and writing outside the box more than I love being that English nut).  What readers care about most is that we’re giving them truly great reads!  And, that’s what we care about here!

-Entrant agrees to abide by all rules of the RRBC KCT ILA Contest

    1. Pat, I hadn’t seen your comment on here till just now! I’m so sorry. Thanks for your kind words and congratulations to you for being the winner. I read your story Turn The Light On and thought it was deserving of the prize. I’ll be leaving my 5-star review tomorrow. I really enjoyed it!

  2. Congratulations, Pat! I really enjoyed your story and am very happy it won! I’m also honored that Breathless: A Short Story and The One Awakened placed in top spots. Thank you to the judges for taking the time out of your busy lives for this contest. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Yvette. When I had had my first cup of coffee on Monday morning, I opened up my Twitter to see which tweets that I had to retweet. To say I was shocked is an understatement. I somehow loss it. The tears came, and I sat here before my computer and cried. I am thankful that I am a member of RRBC, a member of RWISA, and that I am among a group of awesome authors who don’t mind reaching out and supporting others. I’m also thankful for the administrative management and 4WILLS which I love. I second your thanks to the judges. Time is precious. Thank you judges for giving your precious time. Yvette, I am also very happy to see two of your books taking top spots.
      Take care, My Dear.

  4. Congratulations, Wendy! I absolutely LOVED that story. I am honored and thrilled to see three of my books among so many great reads. I’ve either read the winning books or have them on my kindle. I will definitely be moving these up to the top of my list. If they are good enough to win, they are definitely books I want to read. Thank you to all the judges for taking the time to read all these books. 🙂
