In Loving Memory of Kathryn C. Treat – #RRBC

Kathryn w cup in hand

Kathryn C. Treat passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014, @ 2:20 am (California time).  On Friday, Dec. 19, after having a wonderful time at our virtual Christmas party, in a virtual chat room with her fellow RRBC VIP Lounge members, Kathryn informed us that she was not feeling well and that she was going to leave.  Shortly thereafter, she suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and then lapsed into a coma.

Kathryn was an honorary board member of the RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB, where she served as Membership Director from Dec. 2013, until September 2014.  Kathryn is the author of  “ALLERGIC TO LIFE.”   She inspired and encouraged many with this book so if you have not had the pleasure of reading it, please head to Amazon and get your copy.

Allergic To Life

Kathryn was a dedicated member of RRBC until her passing and she was one of the most supportive members we had…not just to one, but to all.  Kathryn leaves to mourn her husband, her mother, her two daughters, a son-in-law and three grand-kids (who she adored more than life), as well as her entire RRBC family.

Let us remember Kathryn and honor her memory by always being kind to one another and by always offering our support to another.  It’s what she did.  It’s how she lived.  It’s who she was.  If Kathryn touched your life in any way, please share your memories and comments below.

Kathryn Chastain Treat….gone too soon.

Kathryn Treat Christmas Tree

{Kathryn mailed this to me on 12/4/14.  It’s hanging over my desk}

Kathryn Treat Super Nonnie gift

{This was my Christmas present from Kathryn.  It’s also hanging over my desk. She made this and at the bottom, there is a label that reads:  “Made with Love by Kathryn Treat.”}

Kathryn Treat Whos On The Shelf gift

I will try to share as many memories of Kathryn here as I can.  Here’s her handwriting.  You know we can learn a lot about someone from their handwriting, and because we may never get to touch the hands of these “friends,” this just brings them a little closer to us.
This was my Xmas card Kathryn sent to me.  Very personal.  Thank goodness I save “little” things that typically always turn out to be “big” things.

  1. I was listening to the book trailer2. I love that trailer and the song has a haunting ring to it. That was her life wrapped up in a bag. What a sad turn of events she had to endure. I was so touched by her story and don’t know where she got the strength to coherently record everything that she endured. It takes talent to do what she did. I admired her so much.

  3. I was looking at the gifts Kathryn sent you and she was very talented in spite of what she was going through. I think she loved our family because she lost so many after she got sick. That’s when you find out who your true friends are. God Bless Kathryn and her family.

  4. I never met Kathryn, but I have seen the videos posted here and I have her book, Allergic To Life. Some people come into this world as bright stars that build paths for others. I believe Kathryn Chastain Treat was one of those people, and her light still shines.
    I am honored to be among the receivers of the KCT International Literary Award. That award has given me much joy and it is treasured by me and has become one of my foundational stones to always write books that have a message.
    So, I say thanks, and I salute a great writer that did so much in such a short time.
    R.I.P Kathryn and peace to all the people you have left behind that miss you.
    Shalom aleichem

  5. Thanks Nonnie for reminding us and keeping Kathryn’s memory alive. There is nothing greater than that and money can’t buy it.

  6. I have only been a member for a year, so therefore never had the pleasure of interacting with Kathryn. As Nonnie says, a person can tell a lot from another’s handwriting. Kathryn’s tells me that she was warm, creative and outgoing. My reading list is so long, thanks to the recent conference, but I’m adding Kathryn’s book to it as well. Thank you, Nonnie, once again, for bring a special person into my life.
